Jaume Buxeda i Garrigós

Jaume Buxeda i Garrigós is Professor of Archaeology and Archaeometry and director of the Research Group on the Archaeology of Complexity and Processes of Social Evolution (GRACPE) and its unit Material Culture and Archaeometry UB (ARQUB). He specialises in archaeometric studies of inorganic materials, especially ceramics, and in the application of statistics in archaeological and archaeometric studies. Among the various projects that he is developing, the Tecnolonial project stands out – Technological impact in the new colonial world. Cultural change in archaeology and ceramic archaeometry (HAR2016-75312-P), addressing the problems of technical traditions, technical/technological change and ethnicity, as well as the emergence of pre-industrial productions in the context of colonial societies developed during the expansion of the Crown of Castile to the Canary Islands and America.
