Institut national de recherches archéologiques préventives (INRAP – FR)
Created in 2002, Inrap is a public research institution under the supervision of the Ministries of Culture and Communication, and of Research.
Inrap ensures the detection and study of the archaeological heritage affected by development works. It undertakes the study of these finds, disseminates the research results within the scientific community and contributes to spread the knowledge of archaeology to the general public. With approximately 2,200 collaborators and researchers, Inrap is by far the largest and most important institute in preventive archaeology at work.
Inrap is involved in exchanges of experiences and methodology concerning the recording, handling and exploitation of a large quantity of archaeological data a national level and at a European level.
At Inrap, the scientific and technical department will coordinate the project with the help of specialized field archaeologists. The department is in charge of coordination of operational, research and international activities of the Institute.
