Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT – IT)

Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) is a scientific research centre established in 2003. IIT develops multidisciplinary scientific activities with a strong technology transfer approach.
IIT has a vast experience in managing and supervising research projects with a portfolio of 902 external funded competitive research projects: 57% of the ongoing scientific projects are financed by EU funding programs as H2020 and HE and 67 projects have been funded by the European Research Council (ERC). IIT has produced more than 20.000 publications and 437 inventions resulting in 1354 active patents. Its research activity led to the creation of 34 start-ups, with additional more than 50 under due diligence
Three Research Lines will be involved in the project: (i) Soft Robotics for Human Cooperation and Rehabilitation, which focuses on the development of novel robotic components and technologies for human cooperation rehabilitation and industrial robotics, with a specific focus on the grasping and manipulation aspects; (ii) the Humanoids and Human Centered Mechatronics (HHCM) with solid expertise in robot and mechanism design, modelling and control of new mechatronics components and complex systems, and, finally, (iii) Center for Cultural Heritage Technology (CCHT) with solid expertise in connecting robotics and digital technologies in the archaeological field. These actions focus on three core research areas, either only touched on or emerging in the CH domain: digitisation & retrieval, protection, and machine learning.
