The University of Pisa is the leading organisation of the AUTOMATA project through MAPPA Lab, a research unit within the multidisciplinary Department of Civilisations and Forms of Knowledge.
MAPPA Lab specializes in archaeological methods, digital applications in archaeology, and Open Data, with expertise in data analysis, artificial intelligence, GIS and contemporary and environmental archaeology. It has been involved in numerous national and international projects, advancing research in spatial analysis, digital archaeology, Big Data, AI applications in archaeology, and storytelling. MAPPA Lab led the H2020 ArchAIDE project and is a key partner in several other prominent research initiatives. The MAPPA Lab will be the perfect link between the project’s archaeological and ICT issues.
