The human in the loop? – hybrid event at Collège de France, Paris, 12th June 2025
In the framework of the AUTOMATA project, INRAP organises The ‘human in the loop’? Intersecting perspectives on the archaeologists’ future in the age of AI and automation. This hybrid event will take place on Thursday the 12th June, from 13h30 to 17h, at Collège de France, Paris
This hybrid workshop aims to bring together people from a variety of professional and academic backgrounds to discuss the numerous ethical and methodological questions raised by the multiple applications of AI in archaeological processes.
The morning will be devoted to internal discussions in small groups.
The afternoon, open to the public, will begin with a lecture by Professor Antoinette Rouvroy, FNRS researcher at CRIDS (University of Namur, Belgium), entitled The future of the humanities in the age of AI: reflections on the semiotic, epistemological and political challenges of the algorithmic turn. The conference will be followed by a round table discussion with the participants in the morning workshops (archaeologists, curators, lawyers, researchers and engineers) and a discussion with the public.
The public event will take place on 12 June 2025 from 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Paris at the Collège de France, with coffee served from 1:00 p.m.
